Unusual Bedroom Furniture Finished

Eddie has just completed a piece of Oak furniture for a lady who owned a similar piece as a child in South Africa and which was known there as a Tall boy, it consists of a Wardrobe sitting on top of a long drawer and 3 smaller drawers sitting on the long drawer beside the wardrobe. The wardrobe door and the fronts of the drawers are raised and fielded panels set within a moulded frame, the drawers are fitted with self close runners and the wardrobe has two shelves and a hanging rail. The drawer and door handles are the clients choice and were special made, the piece is finished off with a small framed bevelled mirror and drawer unit, it was then oiled and waxed.

English Ash Fitted Bedroom Furniture completed

Eddie has just finished making a set of fitted solid English Ash bedroom furniture which consists of four wardrobes,one full length hanging, one with shelves from top to bottom and two with half hanging and half shelves. It also incorporates a four drawer chest of drawers set in between two of the wardrobes with fitted shelves above and another bigger four drawer chest of drawers placed on the opposite wall.

The former MP Ann Widdecombe recently commissioned E.B.Furniture to make 4 dinning room chairs in the style of an existing set dating from 1930, two of which had to be carver chairs, and then to re-upholster the original 4 chairs in the same style as the new ones Also in the brief was to extend the dinning room table by another 3.5 feet and add another leaf and apply a new finish to the whole table top to match the existing table and chairs.

English Ash Kitchen Finished

Eddie has just finished his latest solid ash kitchen for a client in Burnam-on Sea it has 16 drawers ranging from two small cutlery drawers to some very big pan drawers they are all fitted on self close runners for ease of use and have gothic style handles. The top cupboards incorporate two storage cupboards and an end cupboard which hides an open bottom double plate rack which drains down on to a raised drainer over lapping the double Belfast sink unit.The kitchen has solid Ash worktops which makes a change from the more popular granite as of late. On a separate wall there are a range of ash shelves hung on hangman brackets with another solid ash work surface beneath them, were the washing machine, dryer and fridge go under. The whole kitchen is finished in a water and heat resistant oil.

Painted Display Cabinet

This display cabinet is made of American popular and painted, it has American Black Walnut raised and fielded door panels and a 30mm thick walnut top, the walnut has been finished with a brush on shellac polish. The unit has eight 12mm thick glass shelves which have led lights fitted on the back and 3 down lights fitted in the top, the handles are polished chrome with a leather covered bar. The whole unit fits within an alcove and looks stunning in the contemporary room it was made for

This English Ash Kitchen incorporates a eye level oven, Integrated dishwasher and an electric hob fitted into a 30mm thick granite top which also has a stainless steel sink set within it. The top cupboards have amply storage space and the bottom units have 2 big pan drawers and a cutlery drawer and incorporate a large corner cupboard with a double door which folds back onto its self

Rosemoor exhibition report

Eddies furniture was a great success at the recent Colour of wood Exhibition held at R.H.S. Gardens Rosemoor. Over 4000 people passed through the show in its 16 day run many of them giving very positive comments on what they had seen. We hope to be back at Rosemoor in two years time

Eddie has just finished a very unusual looking table which was designed by his client, it stands 700mm high 900mm wide and 2100mm long and seats 6 to 8 people on chairs already owned by the client and which were the inspiration behind the table design. The table has traditional breadboard ends with 2 angled legs and 1 angled centre dividing rail, it is finished in oil and waxed.

Monks Bench Finished

The monks bench is made of solid oak and was made to fit in an alcove in the clients hallway, it is constructed using raised and fielded panels in a moulded frame, the seat is hinged with solid brass butt hinges to create a useful storage area, the piece is then oiled and waxed.

New made to measure solid wood internal plank doors, these doors are constructed using a tongue and groove jointing system with a traditional moulded scratch bead. ( A v groove instead of the scratch bead can be machined if so desired ) The ledges on the back of the door are held in place with a traditional hand forged nail. Nailed through the face of the door. The doors can then be oiled or just waxed or finished in any way you desire. Prices start from £150 and can be ordered in Oak, Ash or any timber of your choice.

Eddie finishes his latest kitchen

Eddie has just completed his latest kitchen at an impressive North Devon home. The kitchen is made out of solid Maple with 30mm granite work tops and consists of a 9 foot long,4 foot wide centre island with an 18inch overhang for use as a breakfast bar, it also incorporates a solid beech chopping block at ethier end for food preparation and 12 large drawers on soft close runners, the metal drawer pulls are of a pantine finish. Also making up the kitchen design is a large double belfast sink unit with six soft close drawers, situated above that is a very large double plate rack made to fit the owners plates and bowls. The kitchen is finished in a blend of finishing oils to give good protection against water and heat .

These are exciting times for all involved in EB Furniture. Eddie is celebrating his first 10 years in business with this new web site, showing off a greater range of the commissions he has produced to date and the services he can provide to you, the client. (Thanks to Stone Creative and Inspira Digital for a great job).

Also the business is on the move. After spending a happy seven years in the workshop at Homelands Business Centre the business is looking for more space so it will be moving just two miles up the road to Valley View Farm, to a modern workshop with twice the space as before.

Back to furniture news, Eddie has just finished completing a beautiful solid Maple kitchen in an impressive North Devon home. The kitchen includes a massive centre island, nine feet long and four feet wide with solid granite top, also a made to measure double plate rack and a large sink unit with a double belfast sink. All drawers (of which there are eighteen) are fitted with soft close runners to give it that added ease of use.
