English Elm Coffer
This English Elm coffer was made using the clients own elm from a tree which was felled in their garden. The timber was left to season for nearly 5 years before it was used. The coffer is constructed on the front and sides using raised and fielded panels within a moulded frame and on the back has tongue and grove boards set within a mortise and tenon frame. The legs are 100mm ( 4 inches ) square and have arrow heads carved into the corners on the base, the top is flat and is 30mm thick ,it is hinged with large brass butt hinges and on the inside of the top are 2 leather straps to stop the lid falling back, the whole coffer is finished in oil and waxed.
Oak lined dovetail jewellery box
This Solid Oak jewellery box is constructed using traditional dovetail joints. It has two drawers, also made of oak and dovetailed and is lined with red felt, the lid is attached with brass box hinges to stop it falling right back when opened and small antique brass pull Knobs are used for the drawers and lid. The box was then oiled and waxed for a finish.
